DAR Cotton Candy
Chicagoland · Fresh-spun on the spot

A robot that makes
cotton candy.

Kid picks a shape on the screen. A little robot arm spins a cloud of fresh sugar in about 90 seconds and hands it over. Adults stand there watching the whole time. Every single one of them. We've stopped being surprised by it.

No staff to hire. No sticky teenager to schedule. It just stands there being profitable.

Yes it really
glows like that

What it actually is

It's a vending machine that cooks.

Not a box of pre-bagged candy going stale under a light. Real sugar goes in, a heated spinner head throws it into floss, and a robot arm winds it onto a stick in front of you. The candy is warm when you get it.

The whole thing is about the size of a big arcade cabinet, plugs into a normal outlet, takes cards and taps, and reports its own sales. Somebody restocks sugar and sticks every so often. That somebody is us.

Cotton candy is, to be completely honest with you, 100% sugar and 0% nutrition. We are not going to stand here and pretend it's a smoothie. It's a treat, it's an event, and children lose their minds over it.

Inside the glass chamber: the spinner head and robot arm mid-build, lit lemon yellow, with a fresh cloud of candy forming on the stick.

How it works

Four steps. One of them is waiting.

Tap and pay

Card, phone or watch. The screen shows the shapes — bears, flowers, hearts, a few we can't identify but kids order constantly.

Sugar goes in

The head heats up and the machine drops in a measured shot of flavored sugar. This is the part with the satisfying noise.

The arm does its thing

Roughly ninety seconds of a robot arm patiently winding a cloud onto a stick, behind glass, in full view. Nobody walks away during this part.

Door opens, cloud exits

It hands over a warm cloud bigger than the child holding it. Photos happen. You're welcome.

Actual photos, actual machines

No stock photos. This is our stuff.

The boring but important part

We do the paperwork so you don't have to think about it.

Anybody can wheel a sugar machine into your building. Fewer people can hand you the documents your insurance company is going to ask for. Here's what comes with us:

  • Local retail food permits for every county we operate in
  • General liability insurance, certificate on request, you named as additional insured
  • Food handler certification for everyone who touches a machine
  • Temporary food establishment permits pulled per event, by us
  • Sealed sugar, single-use sticks, sanitized chamber between service days
  • A written placement agreement, so everyone knows the split

Allergen note, and we mean this one seriously: it's sugar, flavoring and color. No nuts, no dairy, no gluten in the product itself. Ask us for the exact ingredient sheet and you'll get it the same day.

Questions people actually ask

Frequently asked, honestly answered.

Can it make a cloud bigger than my kid's head?
Yes. We have measured this. We are not proud of it, and we're not going to stop.
How much space does it need?
Roughly the footprint of a claw machine — about 3½ feet wide and 3 feet deep, plus room for a person to stand in front of it. One standard 110V outlet. It does not need water, gas, or a vent hood.
What does it cost me to put one in my venue?
Nothing up front. We own the machine, we deliver and install it, we restock and service it, we carry the insurance. You provide the floor space and the outlet, and you take a percentage of everything it sells. We'll send you the split and the projected monthly numbers for a venue your size.
Who cleans it?
We do. This is the answer to a surprising number of questions on this page.
What if it breaks in the middle of a birthday party?
For parties, a human comes with the machine and stays for the whole booking — so if something jams, it's fixed in a minute rather than ruining an afternoon. For placed machines we monitor them remotely and get out there fast. It's a robot, not a magic trick; occasionally it needs a person.
Is it loud?
It's about as loud as a coffee grinder, in bursts, for ninety seconds. In a trampoline park nobody will ever hear it. In a quiet library — please don't put it in a library.
How far do you travel?
We're based in the Chicago suburbs and regularly cover the northwest, west and north side — Cook, DuPage and Lake counties. Further out is a conversation, not a no.
Can we get our logo on it?
For longer placements and corporate events, yes — we can wrap the panels. We print signage and vehicle wraps in-house, which is a strange thing for a candy company to be good at, but here we are.
Let's do it

Tell us what you've got in mind.

A venue, a birthday, a festival, or just a question you couldn't find above. Fill this in and a real person gets back to you — usually the same day, occasionally while covered in sugar.
